Arsenal vs PSV Eindhoven
It’s only a matter of time before Arsenal clinch their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals. Mikel Arteta’s men recorded a 7-1 victory against PSV Eindhoven in the first leg of this Round of 16 tie, so they’re in cruise control when they return to the Emirates Stadium for the second leg on Wednesday.
Arsenal are fresh from a disappointing 1-1 draw against Manchester United yesterday. They were supposed to win it to revive their Premier League title hopes, but instead, they settled for a point.
Meanwhile, PSV Eindhoven are coming off a 2-1 win against Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie. Peter Bosz’s side is out to salvage some pride against the Gunners since it’ll take a miracle for them to overturn their huge deficit and advance to the next round of the Champions League.

Talking Points
Raya in superb form for Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya might be a busy man this Wednesday, as we expect PSV Eindhoven to be ultra-aggressive in the final third. However, the Spanish international should hold it down for the hosts.
Raya was arguably the man of the match against the Red Devils after he made vital saves to prevent Ruben Amorim’s men from snatching three points. He notched five saves, the first time he has made at least that many in a match in the Premier League since facing Crystal Palace on December 2024 (also five). Raya also had 40 touches and completed 18 of his 26 total passes in the 1-1 draw.
However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mikel Arteta gives Raya a rare day off since the PSV Eindhoven game might not have much bearing. Neto could start between the sticks to join Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ben White, Jakub Kiwior, and William Saliba at the back. Jorginho and Kieran Tierney are also vying for spots in the starting XI. Bukayo Saka (hamstring), Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee), Kai Havertz (hamstring), and Gabriel Jesus (knee) are still in the recovery room.
PSV Eindhoven get massive lineup boost
Sergino Dest made his long-awaited return from an ACL tear in PSV Eindhoven’s league win over Heerenveen last weekend, and the American international could draw a start against Arsenal. The 24-year-old full-back could give his team some spark.
Head coach Peter Bosz is still missing Malik Tillman (leg), Ricardo Pepi (knee), and Esmir Bajraktarevic (unspecified), but at least PSV Eindhoven did not sustain any fresh injury blows. Bosz does not want to see his team roll over and accept defeat, so he should deploy a full-strength side.
Luuk de Jong is the team’s top scorer with 11 league goals and five assists, so he should take the No. 9 spot. Guus Til and Ismael Saibari have 16 league goals and 16 assists combined, and they both found the back of the net against Heerenveen. Til and Saibari will join de Jong in the final third.
History
Arsenal’s 7-1 first-leg rout of PSV Eindhoven was the biggest-ever away win in the knockout stages of the Champions League. The Gunners could become the first English side since Manchester City in the 2018-19 Round of 16 to score at least 10 goals across two legs in the competition (won 10-2 on aggregate vs. Schalke 04). They also aim to win six consecutive Champions League matches for the first time since a run between March and November 2005 under Arsene Wenger.
PSV Eindhoven are winless in their last six European away games on English soil (D2, L4). Their last such win was a 1-0 result against Tottenham in 2008. They also haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home in the Champions League since a goalless draw against Atletico Madrid in March 2016.
Betting Tip
The Champions League 2025 odds predict a straightforward result for the Gunners this Wednesday. Arsenal are 1.37 favourites to win, whereas PSV Eindhoven are 6.80 underdogs, and a draw is at 4.36 in the 1X2 market. Arsenal should cruise to the next round if they don’t concede seven goals.
We don’t expect another 7-1 blowout, but the Gunners should outscore their Dutch counterparts again this week. Besides our recommended bet, bettors can also go for options like Over 2.50 at 1.73, Over 2.75 at 1.98, Over 3.00 at 2.23, and even Total Goals 4-6 at 2.93.
Fans at the Emirates Stadium are in for a treat because they will get their dose of Champions League 2025 highlights while seeing their team move on to the next round.
