NBA Stars Who Stood Out in 2025 FIBA EuroBasket

The 2025 FIBA EuroBasket is about to reach its climax. After a long and winding road, Turkey and Germany will meet in the final game, while Greece and Finland will compete for third place. As always, NBA fans will get their dose of NBA 2025 highlights, but from a different place, as the games are held in Riga, Latvia, rather than in the United States.

These four nations wouldn’t have advanced this far if it weren’t for their star-studded rosters, and almost all teams that participated boast NBA-calibre talent. Germany are favoured by the NBA 2025 odds to win because of their prior experience in big tournaments like these, which would make them one of the few countries to achieve a rare World Cup-EuroBasket double.

Without further ado, SBOTOP is here to pay homage to some of the biggest stars who have done well in the continental tournament.

Alperen Sengun

Alperen Sengun boosted his reputation in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket, as he is the driving force behind Turkey’s unexpected run to the final game. The Rockets center has lived up to his “Baby Jokic” moniker by leading the Crescent Stars in efficiency (30.3), points (20.8), rebounds (11.0), and assists (7.0) per game.

The 23-year-old slot man became the youngest player in FIBA EuroBasket history to record a triple-double, as he had 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists on 8-for-14 shooting from the field in Turkey’s 91-77 quarter-finals victory over Poland. Sengun also won his most recent matchup against Giannis Antetokounmpo, notching 15 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and two steals on 5-for-15 shooting from the field in yesterday’s 94-68 win over Greece.

Now that he is one win away from his first European championship, Sengun will go all out against Germany, and his fans from Houston will certainly cheer him on.

Dennis Schroder

Dennis Schroder may be known as a journeyman who has bounced around the NBA, but he is seen as an icon in Germany for all he has done for his nation. He helped Germany win its first FIBA World Cup in 2023, winning tournament MVP in the process, and Schroder is on the verge of helping his country win another major silverware.

Germany are through to the final after dispatching Portugal, Slovenia, and Finland in the previous rounds. Schroder stepped up when it mattered to lead Germany past Finland last Friday, 98-86, as he set the semi-finals record with 12 assists while adding 26 points and five rebounds on 8-for-15 shooting from the field.

Schroder has been the team’s top playmaker, averaging 6.6 assists per contest. The 31-year-old floor general is also second in Germany’s efficiency (20.1) and points per game (20.9) behind Magic forward Franz Wagner.

After spending the 2024-25 campaign with the Warriors and Pistons, Schroder secured a three-year, $45 million deal to play for the Kings this upcoming season. Given the team’s lack of point guards, Schroder is expected to have the lion’s share of minutes in that position.

Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic did not advance far in this year’s FIBA EuroBasket, but he still had a great tournament regardless. As mentioned, the Lakers guard was a statistical monster in the preliminary round, leading the competition in efficiency per game (35.4), points per game (32.4), and steals per game (3.2).

Overall, Doncic averaged 34.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 2.7 steals on 36.6 efficiency. In his last game against Germany, the five-time NBA All-Star had 39 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists on 11-for-25 shooting from the field.

Doncic’s early exit could be seen as a blessing in disguise for the Lakers because he’ll have more time to recharge his batteries ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. At least in this tournament, he has shown a glimpse of what he could do with his much-improved physique.

Lauri Markkanen

The Jazz aren’t expected to do much this upcoming season, but the fans might have a sliver of hope after watching how Lauri Markkanen fared in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket. Markkanen was a reason why Finland made it all the way to the semi-finals, upsetting Serbia and beating Georgia along the way.

Just like the other stars on this list, Markkanen had been Finland’s go-to man. The Jazz sharpshooter led the team in points (23.6), rebounds (7.9), and steals (2.3) on 24.1 efficiency. Markkanen also achieved a major milestone in the competition, becoming the second Finnish international to reach 500 points in FIBA EuroBasket history. He is 121 points away from surpassing Timo Lampen at the top spot.
