The Football transfer window not only applies to the Top 5 leagues but also to some of the other competitions in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia. A handful of high-profile teams from these regions have been busy this summer, trying to reinforce their rosters as the 2025-26 campaign has already started. These transfers will undoubtedly boost their SBOTOP Football 2025 odds of competing in their respective leagues this season.
Fenerbahce, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Qadsiah, and LAFC are among those who have been proactive this summer. They did their due diligence and utilised their resources to acquire some of the world’s top players this window.
Ederson, Fenerbahce
It has been a busy summer transfer window for Fenerbahce, who have started the 2025-26 Turkish Super Lig campaign on an undefeated run across their first three games (W2, D1). The Yellow Canaries acquired Edson Alvarez on loan from West Ham United, Kerem Akturkoglu from Benfica, Nelson Semedo on a free transfer, Marco Asensio from PSG, and Ederson from Manchester City, among others.
Signing Ederson from Manchester City for £12.1 million was huge for Fenerbahce because they didn’t have a first-choice-calibre goalkeeper after Dominik Livakovic’s departure. This move triggered a goalkeeper merry-go-round, as the Sky Blues acquired Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG at £26 million after selling the 32-year-old Brazilian.
Ederson spent the last eight seasons with the Sky Blues and was central to their success under manager Pep Guardiola, which includes six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, one Champions League trophy, and one UEFA Super Cup trophy. However, he’s approaching the end of his prime, and the team couldn’t pass up the rare opportunity to get someone like Donnarumma. Unfortunately for the Yellow Canaries, they must find their next manager fast after sacking Jose Mourinho.
Darwin Nunez, Al-Hilal
Al-Hilal are determined to reclaim their Saudi Pro League crown after finishing second behind Al-Ittihad last term. First, they hired Simone Inzaghi to be their manager. Then, they reinforced their squad with the key additions of Theo Hernandez from AC Milan and Darwin Nunez from Liverpool.
Al-Hilal paid around £46.3 million for Nunez, and the Uruguayan is poised to take the starting No. 9 spot in the long run, with Aleksandar Mitrovic getting older and more injury-prone. Nunez is off to a positive start, having scored in three consecutive preseason outings for Inzaghi’s side. He also found the back of the net in the team’s 2-0 opening day win over Al-Riyadh, but the VAR ruled his goal out.
Nunez should play with a huge chip on his shoulder after an underwhelming run with the Reds, considering his £85 million transfer fee when he left Benfica in 2022. The 26-year-old managed only 20 Premier League goals across his first two seasons before he was phased out of the side by Arne Slot.
Kingsley Coman, Al-Nassr
Al-Nassr strengthened their attacking corps with their summer acquisition of Kingsley Coman, who has scored in his Saudi Pro League debut in the team’s 5-0 rout of Al-Taawoun last weekend. The 29-year-old winger is now teammates with fellow summer signing Joao Felix, the evergreen Cristiano Ronaldo, and reunited with former Bayern Munich teammate Sadio Mane.
Coman spent the last 10 years of his career with Bayern Munich, scoring 72 goals in 339 appearances, including the winning goal in the 2020 Champions League final against PSG. He has nine Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokals, and six DFL-Supercups under his belt. His departure from Bayern Munich came two weeks after the Bundesliga champions acquired Luis Diaz from Liverpool.
Mateo Retegui, Al-Qadsiah

Al-Qadsiah raised eyebrows when they paid £56 million to acquire Mateo Retegui from Atalanta this summer. The 26-year-old striker just won the Capocannoniere last season with 25 goals in 36 Serie A games, guiding La Dea to a third-place finish.
Retegui replaces Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who returned to Marseille last month. The Italian international recently led the way in Al-Qadsiah’s opening day win over Al-Najma, scoring in the fifth minute and stoppage time to secure the 3-1 result.
Son Heung-Min, LAFC
Son Heung-Min made headlines in the Football 2025 news when he announced that he had left Tottenham to play for LAFC this season. He has scored 173 goals in 454 appearances for Spurs, guiding them to win their first Europa League crown last season.
The 33-year-old forward failed to score in his long-awaited Major League Soccer home debut in LAFC’s 2-1 defeat against San Diego FC last Sunday, although he had two shots on target and had several strong attacking moments.
