Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
Premier League leaders Arsenal continue their title charge on Sunday with a tasty all-London clash when Crystal Palace are the visitors to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have two days longer to prepare for this match than Palace who have a Europa Conference tie at home to AEK Larnaca on Thursday night. The Gunners got their European duties out of the way on Tuesday with a hugely impressive 4-0 win over La Liga giants Atletico Madrid to climb up to third place in the Champions League Table, as one of three clubs on maximum points as at Wednesday morning.
While Arsenal beat Fulham 1-0 last week, Palace played out a 3-3 draw with fellow gatecrashers Bournemouth, a result which left the Eagles eighth in the league table. The Premier League 2025 betting odds have installed Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal as the new favourites to win the 2025/26 title but, under Oliver Glasner, Palace are a force to be reckoned with, already beating Liverpool twice this season, in the Community Shield and the league.
Talking Points
Gyokores ends his seven game drought
Arteta has recently said that his deeper squad gives the Gunners a bigger chance to win trophies this season; a bold claim but he has certainly pulled in some big names in the summer. Viktor Gyokeres, signed from Sporting Lisbon as a solution to Arsenal’s centre forward problem was big Premier League 2025 news during the window, and former Palace winger Eberechi Eze has added to the creative midfield department while midfield ace Martin Zubimendi was brought in from Real Sociedad. All three players made an instant impression though, after a purple patch, Gyokores has suffered a scoring drought in recent games.
But Arsenal’s clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday saw the Swedish hitman come back to form with a well taken brace, as two of four goals in a blistering 13 minutes, Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli grabbing the other two. Gyokores is likely to lead the line on Sunday and with service coming from the excellent Bukayo Saka he’ll be hoping he’s about to start another hot streak.
Mateta steps up for Palace

Over the past two seasons, Crystal Palace have lost two of their post prolific forwards in Michael Olise, transferred to Bayern Munich in 2024, and Eze, who may well line up for Arsenal on Sunday. Glasner has moved in the market to strengthen, signing the exciting Spanish 23-year-old Yerry Pino from Villarreal and he has joined 2024 recruits Daichi Kamada and Ismaila Sarr in the Eagles’ attacking unit.
French striker Jean Phillipe-Mateta has been at the club since 2022 and he has, year on year, looked increasingly like a Premier League star, though often in the shadow of Olise and Eze. Mateta put on a goal-scoring master-class in the 3-3 draw with Bournemouth last week, scoring a hat-trick to move up to joint third in the Premier League top scorers list and he has registered 37 goals in 107 appearances for the Eagles, also winning two caps for France this year.
Mateta will be a player the Gunners need to keep an eye on, but it is at the other end of the pitch where the Eagles need to be at their best. Marc Guehi , much sought after during the summer, but still at the club as captain and in the heart of defence, knows full well how dangerous the Gunners are in open play and from set pieces. Only last week Arteta’s side scored the winner against Fulham from a corner and, after conceding three against the Cherries, Guehi and his team-mates need to be totally on their game on Sunday.
History
The Gunners have won 19 of the 32 meetings with Palace in the Premier League era, drawing nine and losing just four, scoring 67 goals to the Eagles’ 33.
In terms of recent form Arsenal have won the last six games, scoring 13 goals and conceding just one, while, prior to their Thursday European date, the Eagles had won three, drawn two and lost one, scoring 11 goals and conceding eight.
Betting Tip
Arsenal are at short SBOTOP odds of 1.42 to take another three points on Sunday with Palace at 7.50 and the draw is priced at odds of 4.40.
The Gunners need to keep their momentum going and, while Palace are a dangerous opponent; with home advantage, a deeper squad and two days more to prepare, I expect the hosts to start on the front foot and take control of the game.
