West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham have undergone a seismic change off the field during the international break, as long-time executive chairman Daniel Levy recently announced his shock departure from the club after almost 25 years in charge. For the first time since 2000, the Spurs will play a Premier League match without Levy overseeing operations in any form, when they visit West Ham United at the London Stadium this Saturday evening.
Before Levy left, Thomas Frank’s side was fourth in the English top-flight table with six points, level with Arsenal, Everton, Sunderland, and Bournemouth. They started their 2025-26 campaign with back-to-back victories against Burnley (3-0) and Manchester City (2-0) before losing 1-0 to Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, West Ham United dropped their opening league matches against Sunderland (3-0) and Chelsea (5-1), and they also lost 3-2 to Wolves in the EFL Cup second round. However, Graham Potter’s men are riding high on the back of a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Talking Points
Summerville is West Ham United’s magic pick
West Ham United were in danger of dropping more points against Nottingham Forest until Graham Potter made some bold lineup moves late in the second half. He replaced Niclas Fullkrug and Mateus Fernandes with Callum Wilson and Crysencio Summerville, and the latter two turned the Hammers’ fortunes around.
Summerville made his presence felt in the final eight minutes of the game, as he teed up Jarrod Bowen for their first goal in the 84th minute before winning a penalty, which Lucas Paqueta coolly converted four minutes later. Wilson put the final nail in the coffin in stoppage time by converting off of El Hadji Malick Diouf’s sumptuous cross from the left flank.
Before this, Summerville had an underwhelming start to his Hammers career, with his 2024-25 campaign ending with a hamstring injury. The former Leeds United winger was absent during the team’s defeats against Sunderland, Chelsea, and Wolves. Following his fine performance against Nottingham Forest, it wouldn’t be surprising if he starts against Tottenham, likely relegating Fernandes to the bench.
Another man to look out for is Paqueta, as he has found the back of the net in each of the Hammers’ last three games.
Tottenham likely to feature their new weapons

Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani could be in line for their Premier League debuts at the London Stadium this Saturday. However, only the former has a higher chance of starting. Simons should fill in for the injured James Maddison, likely to take the place of Brennan Johnson. Meanwhile, Kolo Muani could find himself in a three-way battle for the starting No. 9 spot alongside Richarlison and Dominic Solanke.
Tottenham have to be better defensively after they conceded quickly against Bournemouth’s Evanilson. Head coach Thomas Frank will stick with the same back four of Micky van de Ven, Djed Spence, Pedro Porro, and Cristian Romero, with Radu Dragusin and Kota Takai remaining out due to their injuries.
History
West Ham United have won just one of their last seven Premier League matches against Tottenham (D3, L3), a 2-1 win in December 2023 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Each of the last three Premier League meetings between the Hammers and Spurs at the London Stadium has ended in 1-1 draws.
Tottenham are winless in their previous five visits (D3, L2) since a 3-2 result in November 2019. They have lost 10 of their last 16 London derbies in the Premier League (W3, D3), keeping only one clean sheet in their last 21 derbies in the English top-flight, a 2-0 away win at Brentford in February 2025.
The Hammers aim to win consecutive matches for only the second time since David Moyes left the club in January 2025.

The Hammers can hurt their derby foes, but the Spurs should have enough firepower to outmatch the hosts.
